Society services
The Society completely depends on volunteers to operate. There are no paid staff or employees.
Society volunteers provide the following services to our communities:
- Research and report historical information about local families, buildings, and events.
- Assist members of the public to locate historical information about the district.
- Maintain and care for our collection of historical artefacts, documents, and artwork of significance to the local district.
- Prepare and run exhibitions of items in our collection.
- Author, publish and sell books on historical topics of local interest.
- Represent the Society on Moorabool Shire Council committees.
- Collaborate with local groups and organisations.
- Make representations to the Moorabool Shire Council on matters of interest.
The Society archives are open to the public on Tuesdays between 10am and 12 noon and between 1pm and 3pm, and on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10 am to 12 noon.
Entry to the Archives on open days is free and visitors may view items in the collection free of charge. Copies of documents and photo reproductions are available for a fee.
Specific research projects may be undertaken by our volunteers upon request - research fees apply.
